“Through the ORBIS Lens” is a collection of photos showcasing the issues surrounding global eye health. Each week ORBIS will share our best photographs highlighting our efforts to eliminate avoidable blindness around the world.
The EYES1 is a surgical simulator aboard the Flying Eye Hospital (FEH), which was added in 2006. It is a training system that uses computer technology to simulate eye surgery to help local eye care professionals practice their skills during ORBIS FEH programs. Pictured here is Dr. Ahmed Gomaa, Medical Director of ORBIS's FEH as he is coaching a local physician from Cameroon on the surgical simulator.
