Two years after being treated for congenital cataracts Sharmila accidentally broke her glasses after falling asleep while studying. Luckily she was able to return to ORBIS's partner, Himalayan Eye Hospital for a new pair and is eager to continue focusing on her studies with her new found confidence.

“I cannot find a way to show my gratitude to Dr. Quan, to the nurses who cared for my little angel for months, and the hospital that supported me so much during this time. The hospital saved his sight.”

Baby Thinh had retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) a potentially blinding eye disease associated with premature birth. More than a year ago, families would have to travel over 600 miles for treatment. Through ORBIS training, the pediatric team at Hue Eye Hospital in Vietnam is able to save the sight of other children like Thinh. Learn more about ROP: http://bit.ly/11IjgWb

“I hope my girls will now have a good education and be able to play and take part in all the normal games with their friends,” said Mrs. Mwika.  Sisters Lucy, Beauty and Memory all had cataracts in both their eyes. They received surgery thanks to an ORBIS training program with Kitwe Eye Hospital in Kitwe, Zambia. Now their mother imagines a brighter future for her girls.
