“Through the ORBIS Lens” is a collection of photos showcasing the issues surrounding global eye health. Each week ORBIS will share our best photographs highlighting our efforts to eliminate avoidable blindness around the world.
Dr. Brian Leonard, an ORBIS volunteer Retina/Vitreous surgeon since 1984, gives a lecture on Management of Diabetic Retinopathy in the Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) classroom after performing surgery with Zambian hands-on trainees. This is the last program for the ORBIS FEH in 2012.
Local doctors, nurses and biomedical technicians in Ndola and surrounding regions take advantage of the opportunity to bolster their skills and learn side-by-side with leading international specialists in the field of ophthalmology.
The primary focus of this FEH program is pediatric ophthalmology with additional training in the management and prevention of leading causes of blindness in Zambia.
